Life? It’s a chaotic experiment, a series of moments where you stumble around clueless until, in a fit of desperation, you figure it out. Learning through experimentation is the first lesson life gives us. Think about it: a baby learns to walk after years of eating dirt and crashing to the floor.
But once we grow up, we throw out the idea of experimentation because society has no room for it. On the contrary, there's a need to master something quickly so you don’t waste time. Sure, fast mastery sounds great, but what if you’re nailing the wrong thing? That’s a recipe for misery.
It’s fine to master something, but don’t rush it; give yourself the chance to fuck it all up first. Only then will you find what really matters. And then? Start experimenting again.
Just don’t lose your hunger to learn; neglecting the thrill of doing something for the first time is a tragedy. Embracing the uncertainty of not knowing but doing anyway is essential to a creative life.
So forget about the formulas for a moment and give yourself the freedom to get lost. In creation, almost nothing goes according to plan. It’s all about messy experimentation.
